Galaxy S20 owners, rejoice! Samsung made a mistake when they discounted their premium line, the S20, and offered quarterly (instead of annual) security updates for these phones after 4 years. The Galaxy Note 20 (regular and Ultra) and S20 FE, which are priced at the latter, have a few surprises from Samsung as part of this cut.
However, if you are a Note 20 and S20 FE user, please don’t panic. Samsung has gone back to introducing a user-friendly system, after all, as the series is back on a monthly update schedule for the next six months. Often, this means that you will get additional security updates as soon as they are ready to repair your vulnerabilities ahead of time.
Here are the details:
- Galaxy S20: As you may have noticed in the email, I’ve moved to quarterly updates, meaning I’ll be sending out new details every 3 months.
- Galaxy Note 20 and S20 FE: So in 6 months we’ll be back to monthly updates; After this period we will switch to quarterly updates.
In contrast, the S20 moves to a slower version of the cycle, with Note 20 and S20 FE users having the chance to receive monthly security updates for their devices for 6 months, meaning their devices are updated and secure.
