Samsung working on Galaxy Glasses and Ring, suggests new trademarks

Samsung is likely planning to grow its business in some more industries. The company has recently filed new trademarks with the US authority for future Samsung “Galaxy Glasses” AR/VR headsets and “Galaxy Ring” smart rings.

According to the trademark, the brand name “Galaxy Glasses” which comes as the first fruitful outcome of Samsung and its friends. The name alone evokes smart glasses similar to Focals by North or the Ray-Ban Stories, while the full application also covers “headsets” for both AR and VR use.

GALAXY GLASSES™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of virtual reality headsets; Augmented reality headsets; Headphones; Smartphones; Smart glasses.

By submitting trademark applications, the South Korean tech giant indicates that it’s quite serious about the growth of this product portfolio. However, there is no confirmation or input on whether Samsung will bring slim smart glasses or a full-on VR headset experience.

Galaxy Ring

Galaxy Ring is the second trademark application filed by Samsung Electronics. The document description reveals that the Galaxy Ring device would collect health, fitness, and sleep data, in order to end the need of wearing a fitness tracker on the wrist.

SAMSUNG GALAXY RING™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of wearable smart devices in the nature of a smart ring for tracking, measuring, monitoring, and uploading health, fitness and sleep related information; smart rings; smartphones.

Since Samsung has not yet officially disclosed its plans for extended reality products, we have to wait for an official confirmation. It’s also a mystery whether the Samsung Galaxy Glasses and Ring are related to each other or will be commercialized as separate products.
