Samsung targets 11 trillion won operating profit for Semiconductor in 2024

Samsung Data breach

We have finally said Goodbye to 2023 and the Korean tech giant has already started its planning to roar in 2024. According to the details, Samsung Electronics has set a goal of earning over 11 trillion won in operating profit from its semiconductor business in 2024.

The management of Samsung Electronics semiconductor division decided that the operating profit target of 2024 will be 11.5 trillion won. It means the DS division is expected to account for ‘one-third’ of Samsung Electronics’ total operating profit this year.

In 2023, the company was estimated to have an operating loss of 13 trillion won, and the profit and loss target for the semiconductor division was raised to nearly 25 trillion won. This means that DRAM prices have begun to rebound due to production cuts and demand for semiconductors has revived due to the spread of AI.

Notably, the fixed transaction prices of general-purpose DRAM and NAND flash products rose for three consecutive months from October to December last year. Thus, it is expected that mass production of high-value-added products such as Compute Express Link (CXL) DRAM will begin in earnest.
