Famous market research Canalys has reported that around 14.2 million units of foldable smartphones were shipped in 2022 and nearly 12 million units of those foldables belong to the Samsung brand.
According to reports, Huawei’s shipments of foldable phones are less than 2 million units, whereas, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor shipped less than 1 million units in 2022.
Meanwhile, Motorola’s Razr foldable phone was the worst-performing phone, with around 40,000 units shipped worldwide.
The report further claims that foldable phone shipments have declined in the fourth quarter of 2022 for the first time. However, Canalys believes that the development of foldable mobile phones is in a healthy state. FT estimates that shipments of foldable phones will exceed 30 million units in 2023.
