Samsung president asked employees to come up with a new term for smartphones

Samsung C&T leadership

Samsung is all set to unveil its first AI-powered device in the form of the Galaxy S24 series and for that, the firm is considering a new term rather than smartphone. Samsung believes in innovation, and this move shows its commitment to offering a new level of user experience.

According to the info, TM Roh, president of Samsung Electronics MX Division has asked its employees to come up with a new term, using the Galaxy S24 series as a game changer in the era of artificial intelligence phones to surpass the era of iPhone, manufactured by rival Apple.

The president of Samsung Electronics believes that as the upcoming Galaxy S24 series is equipped with features differentiated from existing products. Then the name ‘smartphone’ should also be abandoned and a new device name that can lead the ‘AI’ market should be implemented.

At the end of last month, Samsung Electronics completed the trademark registration process for ‘AI Smartphone’ and ‘AI Phone’ with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the British Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

However, since the term AI phone is a commonly used word, it is known that President Roh wanted to apply a newer term because it is not as strong as the word ‘smartphone’ put forward by Apple. Overall, the Galaxy S24 series is expected to set a new trend in the terminal market.
