More recently, Samsung unveiled a major camera-focused firmware update for the Galaxy S22 series of devices, which debuted in South Korea. Surprisingly, some new camera features have also been released for the Galaxy S21 series, which are listed in the Galaxy S22’s August 2022 update release note.
As confirmed by users in the Korean community, the Galaxy S21 series devices are receiving a major August 2022 firmware update along with new camera and Messages app features. Like the Galaxy S22, owners of the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra also get telephoto lens support in rear hyperlapse mode.

In addition, with the new August 2022 update, features and changes related to QR code scanning are also being implemented in the Galaxy S21 series. Right now, the software update rollout is taking place in South Korea, with the possibility of reaching global regions very soon.
Galaxy S21 series smartphone users will be able to use the telephoto sensor in Hyperlapse mode for a new photography experience. Moreover, the improvements implemented for the QR scanning functionality also take the user experience to the next level.
Apart from the camera features, there are two new features/changes in the message function as well. Now, you can collect multiple images and view them while sending or receiving them to/from anyone. In addition, the update also activates notification registration in group chats.
It is worth noting that the new August 2022 update also includes some significant camera optimizations, however, the changelog for the Galaxy S21 reveals that the customizations are limited to the Galaxy S22 series devices. We expect the company to implement them in future releases as well.
