In an ongoing effort aimed at improving the performance of its Galaxy S7 (2016) and A5 (2017) smartphone models which are now in their fourth generation, Samsung has unveiled a new network standard upgrade.
The only beneficial role of this initiative is to support the continued performance of the current 4G network and security operational limitations without introducing new functionalities. This upgrade not only makes the Galaxy S7 and A5 run higher at firmware version G930FXXU8EVG3 and A520FXXUGCTKA respectively.
Currently, the update is only available for European owners of the Galaxy S7 Edge, and details about what the replacement will look like for other Galaxy S7 Edge users are not yet available. There are still uncertainties as to whether there will be any such plans from Samsung to allow the rest of the phone models to join the bandwagon later, starting in 2016.
Samsung customers with affected versions of Galaxy models will need to regularly double-check the “Update Pending” list. The system should look for Settings >> Software Update >> Download and Install, namely UPS Software Update, which guarantees trouble-free introduction of new 4G capabilities.
