Nowadays, data breaches are becoming more common, with the number of incidents more than tripling between 2013 and 2021. Zero-click attacks are just the latest threat in a growing era of cybercrime targeting user data.

The dangers of data branching are constantly evolving, but Samsung is not far behind in its mobile security. The Korean tech giant already offers comprehensive security through the powerful Samsung Knox platform and already protects users against attacks using video and audio formats.

Now, the company has developed Samsung Message Guard that takes security to the next level by protecting your device in advance and limiting exposure to invisible threats disguised as image attachments.

Samsung Message Guard

Samsung Message Guard is an advanced “sandbox” or a virtual quarantine. When the image file arrives, it is captured and quarantined from the rest of the device. This prevents malicious code from accessing your phone’s files or interacting with its operating system.

The feature examines the file bit by bit and processes it in a controlled environment to ensure it doesn’t infect the rest of your device. We can say, Samsung Message Guard automatically eliminates any potential threats hidden in image files before they can do you any harm.

It also runs silently in the background and is largely invisible, requiring no activation by the user. So, where before you could be compromised without doing anything, you are now protected from zero-click attacks without even lifting a finger.

It supports protection against the following image formats such as PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, ICO, WEBP, BMP, WBMP. The feature is only compatible with Galaxy devices running One UI 5.1 or higher.

It is worth mentioning that the Samsung Message Guard feature is currently available on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The company will soon roll out this feature to other Galaxy devices.
