Top 3 Key Points:
- New Sharing Feature: Circle to Search now allows sharing selected screen areas as images.
- Instant Sharing: Highlights can be shared instantly without saving them to the device.
- Samsung Devices: Feature available on Samsung Galaxy S24 and newer devices with Circle to Search.
Google’s Circle to Search, initially introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S24, is gaining more features over time. In the recent Made by Google event, the company announced a new capability that lets users share highlighted areas of their screen as images. This feature, initially expected to roll out in September, is already becoming available ahead of schedule.
As demonstrated in screenshots shared by 9To5Google, when you activate Circle to Search and highlight any part of the screen, a ‘Share’ option appears above the selection. Tapping this option opens the Google app’s share menu, allowing you to send the selected area as an image. However, this feature doesn’t automatically save the image to your device. If you need to keep a copy, you can save it to Google Photos, Google Drive, or Google Keep directly from the share menu.
This feature is expected to be available on all Samsung smartphones and tablets that support Circle to Search. It’s currently unclear whether this functionality is being distributed through a Google app update or as a server-side change. If it’s an update, users will need to ensure their Google app is up to date. Otherwise, they may need to wait until Google enables the feature for their specific device.
