Emergency calls on Android can now send your medical information

Google and RapidSOS have recently joined hands which allows Android ELS (Emergency Location Service) to share some important data like medical information to emergency contacts and first responders, through emergency SMS or calls.

The sharing of important data includes critical medical information such as your blood type, emergency contacts, or severe allergies. This will be beneficial for the users who need emergency help, and it may also save someone’s life.

Android users with supported devices running Android 12 and above may choose to opt-in to share medical information and emergency contacts with first responders when they place a call or send an SMS to an official, supported emergency number – like 911.

To enable the feature, Personal Safety users on supported devices can open the app and navigate to Your info > Emergency info access > Share during emergency calls.
