Contacts missing on Samsung and Google phones, how to get back

Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel users reported missing contacts problems on their Android smartphones. Without any ado, Google acknowledged the issue and shared the troubleshooting guide so Android users can get access to their stored contacts back.

According to Google, a “bug within Google Contacts resulted in contact data not appearing for some Android (Samsung) and Web users.” The problem is described as a “data access issue” and that “no contact data was directly affected.”

“We have fully rolled out a bug fix for affected users.”

How to get contacts back

Users having contacts missing issue can manually sync contacts via Google Contacts sync. To do so, open your phone’s Settings app > Google > Settings for Google apps > Google Contacts sync > Status > tap Sync arrow. Another way is to refresh contacts.google.com in the web browser to see contacts data.

Earlier, a large number of Android users having Galaxy or Pixel phones reported that there are no contacts in the directory. To be noted, Google earlier made some changes in Play Services, making it mandatory to enable sync so contacts stay visible in the apps.
