Galaxy S21 FE August 2024 Update Overview

Samsung has begun rolling out the August 2024 update for Galaxy S21 FE users, initially in Vietnam. This update includes Google’s new Circle to Search feature, which enhances usability by allowing you to search directly from your screen without needing to switch apps. To use this feature, simply press and hold the Home button or navigation handle, then draw a circle around any object you want to learn more about. This will instantly trigger a Google search, helping you find information quickly and easily.

In addition to this feature, the update significantly enhances device security. The August 2024 patch addresses several critical vulnerabilities. Specifically, Google fixed one critical and 34 high-level Android vulnerabilities, while Samsung patched 14 vulnerabilities specific to Galaxy devices, targeting areas such as system services and Knox security.

The update, identified by One UI build version G990EXXUAFXG6, is gradually being rolled out. If you haven’t received it yet, you can manually check for the update by going to your phone’s Settings, scrolling down to the Software update section, and selecting Download and Install.

Galaxy Watch 4 Health Upgrade in India

Samsung has also updated the Samsung Health Monitor app in India, bringing the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature to the Galaxy Watch 4 series. This feature, part of a 58.54MB update (version 1.3.4.004), alerts users to potential irregular heart rhythms, which could indicate conditions like Atrial Fibrillation (A.Fib). The IHRN feature is designed for all Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches, potentially extending to newer models like the Galaxy Watch 5, 6, 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra.

To activate this feature, open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy phone, go to the ECG tab, and adjust the settings to enable notifications for irregular heart rhythms. The Galaxy Watch will monitor your pulse throughout the day and notify you if it detects any irregularities. If you receive a notification, it’s advisable to take an ECG reading immediately and consult your healthcare provider.

This health update follows Samsung’s earlier release in India, which introduced blood pressure and ECG monitoring to Galaxy Watches, enhancing the health capabilities of Samsung’s wearable devices in the country.
