Think of your car’s infotainment system as more than just a GPS-equipped navigation console, but a full workspace. These are not inventions from any science fiction movie. One of the priciest Kickstarter projects, AutoPro X, is planning to do just that.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay differ only in that they can be used for navigation, calling, and music in the car, but not so much for serious, document-based work. AutoPro X via Samsung DeX, which converts the car’s infotainment display into an office desktop.
Here’s the magic: A small, round stick resembling a bridge fills its place. Pair your Samsung phone with the dongle over the wireless medium. Insert the dongle into your car’s USB port. Within minutes, when you enter the world of Samsung DeX, you will immediately recognize it as it is very similar to any standard desktop layout including a taskbar, desktop and resizable windows.
Not just a concept, the Oxo Pro All Kickstarter backers will receive the dongle for just $140 (pledge), with an estimated delivery date of June 2024. In addition, AutoPro X engineers were able to stand over the shoulders of Samsung’s survey engineers.
But wait, there’s more! AutoPro Are you in a hurry and need to use the navigator or music streaming function while driving? The same extension cable you used to switch on Android Auto can be plugged back in to switch it back on. Car productivity will soon be a thing of the past.
