Samsung Electronics executive chairman Lee Jae-yong met with BMW top executive Oliver Zipse to discuss ideas including cooperation on electric vehicle (EV) batteries. In the meeting, both heads agreed on expanding the supply of Samsung SDI batteries for BMW cars.

According to the information. both the executives of Samsung and BMW have consented to strengthen cooperation between their respective companies in areas including supplies of the Samsung SDI P5 batteries used in BMW’s most recent Electronic vehicle.
Samsung believes that the P5 battery boasts higher energy density and lower material costs than previous EV batteries, with its use of high-nickel cathodes and silicon anodes. Samsung launched a joint EV development project and has maintained a long partnership with the company.
Further, the executive says that –

- I hope we can continue strengthening our companies partnership in future as well
Moving on, Zipse stressed that Samsung was one of BMW’s important partnerships in electrification, adding that his company could continue exploring the technological potential of its partners to achieve unprecedented innovations for its vehicles.
