Spotify, the popular digital music, podcast, and video service now offers its premium subscribers free audiobooks in the US. It means users can now access the streaming platform’s on-demand catalog of over 200,000 audiobooks, alongside 15 hours of listening each month for free.
However, if your 15 hours get completed, the 10 hours of additional listening can be purchased for $12.99 if you need a top-up between billing cycles. Spotify originally announced that the price for more hours would be $10.99 in the US, but the price was increased before the launch.
Audiobooks will appear on the Spotify home feed, and specific titles can be searched for just like music tracks. Spotify has also curated a selection of nine suggested audiobook titles if you need some recommendations on where to start.
- To start, we’re offering each Premium individual, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts, 15 hours of listening per month. There’s no need for you to do anything: Starting today, you’ll simply start seeing audiobooks marked as “Included in Premium” that you can hit play on right away. Fifteen hours should get you around two average audiobooks per month, but if you do hit the limit, you can purchase a 10-hour top-up or buy the book you’re listening to outright.
