Samsung is aiming big for the next foldables in 2024. The company has reportedly set its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip shipments target of 20 million units in 2024.
According to the report, the South Korean smartphone maker is expected to ship a total of 10 million foldable phones this year, including 3 million units of previous years and approximately 7 million units of the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. Notably, the company’s target for 2023 is 16 million units.

The popularity of the foldable is growing globally so is the competition. Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei, is planning to release an affordable model of its flip-type (Pocket) foldable phone. The device could cost less than 1 million won ($750), while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at 1.4 million won ($999).

Apart from this, Transsion (Tecno) plans to release a slideable/rollable smartphone as early as next year. Vivo is also preparing a slidable smartphone, which could go official in the near future.
Recently, OnePlus has also introduced its foldable device. It is getting mixed reviews from tech experts but it can’t compete with Samsung’s latest offering.
Samsung 2nm automotive semiconductors by 2026:
Samsung recently hosted the 2023 Foundry Forum Europe and introduced its advanced and wide-ranging automotive process solutions, from the most advanced 2nm process to the 8-inch legacy process.
Samsung also revealed its advanced process roadmap, emphasizing its plans to complete mass production readiness for its 2nm process for automotive applications by 2026. The company plans to expand its current 130nm automotive BCD process to add 90nm by 2025. The 90nm BCD process is expected to bring a 20% decrease in chip area compared to the 130nm process.
