Tech giant Samsung is poised to become a major player in the emerging field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), thanks to the key component they produce: packages based on semiconductor substrates. They are the subtle but essential components on which AI chips depend, serving as the foundation for their operation.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a subsidiary of the same group, is experiencing a huge increase in demand for its high-tech substrates given the increasing orders for its advanced materials. They introduced large-scale machine learning for AI PCs in 2019, with the ambition to follow up with the introduction of AI security servers from FJBG this year. These additional funds show that Samsung sees great potential in this lucrative market segment.
The achievement of their first PC chip mount is also indicating positive results. These components include a 30% increase in space available for use and a large reduction in width compared to conventional comparisons. This means better productivity and efficiency for customers with AI-empowered devices, enabling the engineers on these devices to execute their work.
While Samsung focuses primarily on PCs, its vision goes beyond that. This includes electronic products that facilitate digital work possibilities. They also plan to employ their groundbreaking substrates for servers and smartphones, which will be implemented in late 2024 for server manufacturing. This strategic expansion will make Samsung a front-runner in the AI chip component field. The company could grow several times over with sales doubling especially in this region.
This innovation from Samsung is not just yesterday’s AI technology, it is a step that is trying to understand the future of smart platforms.
