According to the information, Samsung could adopt a “droplet”-style hinge design for Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone which is called a waterdrop-type display structure. It allows the display to form a teardrop shape when closed, making a gentler curve that leaves less of a crease.

Moving on, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 new design could also make both halves of the display sit flat against each other when the phone’s shut. This new design adoption may fill the small gap that is present in the previous generations of the Galaxy Z Fold.
To be mentioned, Samsung has made various improvements when talking about the crease but there is much more to improve as the last foldable shows an evidently visible crease which can now get less visual with the droplet-style design.
For a recall, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 use a “U”-shaped hinge design that puts the display at a sharper angle when closed which forms a more prominent crease and also puts more stress on the display.
Notably, other folding smartphones have already adopted the droplet-style hinge to avoid crease issues, like the Oppo Find N2. However, it’s yet unclear whether Samsung will adopt this design or it’s just a rumor.
