In Short:
- Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra leaks suggest significant camera upgrades.
- Ultrawide and telephoto sensors might get megapixel bumps and new sensors.
- Improved image quality and potential for future features are expected.
With the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 launch just around the corner, rumors about the next Galaxy S series flagship are already swirling. Although the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s official unveiling is far off, a recent leak sheds light on potential camera improvements.
Tech insider Sperandio4Tech suggests two key upgrades to the S25 Ultra’s camera system. The first involves the ultrawide sensor, which might be swapped for a new JN1 sensor with a slightly smaller physical size (1/2.76-inch) compared to the S24 Ultra’s sensor (1/2.55-inch). However, this potential change is overshadowed by a significant jump in resolution – from 12MP to a whopping 50MP.
The telephoto lens is also rumored to receive an upgrade. According to the leak, it could sport a new and slightly larger 1/3-inch Isocell sensor, replacing the 1/3.52-inch sensor in the S24 Ultra. This upgrade would likely be accompanied by a resolution boost from 10MP to 50MP, mirroring the ultrawide sensor’s improvement.
The leak also mentions new camera algorithms in development, although specifics remain under wraps. These algorithms play a crucial role in enhancing image quality and functionality beyond the limitations of the physical camera hardware. For instance, the S24 Ultra’s improved algorithms significantly enhanced low-light photography, video stabilization, and portrait mode, and even enabled the impressive 100X Space Zoom – all without a dedicated 10x periscope lens.
It’s important to remember that this is still a rumor, and details can change before the expected 2025 launch of the Galaxy S25 series. However, if the leak proves accurate, Samsung’s decision to upgrade the 3x telephoto sensor seems like a strategic move. Shifting to a higher megapixel sensor has the potential to improve image quality, cater to consumer demands for higher resolution, and pave the way for exciting new camera features in the future.
Galaxy S25 Ultra – New Sensors Revealed
Although we still don’t know the names of the sensors at this stage, the Ultrawide will have a new version of the 1/2.76″ JN1 sensor, which is slightly smaller than the one in the S24 Ultra and has a higher resolution of 50MP, as we’ve… pic.twitter.com/LOyU9QJ9MT
