Samsung is reportedly developing Exynos 2400 chipset, which could incorporate a new RDNA2-based graphics unit with 6WGP. Compared to Samsung Exynos 2200’s Xclipse 920 GPU, Exynos 2400 could have four times the compute units.
For starters, WGP stands for “workgroup processor” and is part of AMD’s RDNA architecture. One WGP encompasses 2 compute units in the new RDNA2 solution, which means we get 12 in total, however, the previous GPU had only 3CU.
In addition, the company is collaborating with AMD and game developers to implement ray tracing technologies in its latest chips. One of the first games was supposed to be Diablo: Immortal for Android, but to this day, Exynos 2200-powered smartphones cannot run the highest graphics setting of the title.
As per the previous reports, the Galaxy S24 could equip Exynos 2400 in some markets features a 10-core CPU with one prime Cortex-X4 core, two Cortex-A720 units at a higher frequency, three more Cortex-A720 cores clocked lower and four power-saving Cortex-A520 cores.
