Samsung enhances app mirroring with One UI 6.1.1

Top 3 Key Points:

  1. Simplified App Mirroring: One UI 6.1.1 reduces repetitive permissions for app streaming.
  2. Enhanced Phone Link: Easier and more intuitive interface for Windows users.
  3. AI Features Awaiting Rollout: New AI-driven camera features are on the horizon.

Samsung is making it easier to stream apps from your Android device to Windows with its latest One UI 6.1.1 update. Previously, users had to repeatedly approve permissions for every app they wanted to mirror on their PC. With this update, Samsung has simplified the process.

Tech expert Mishaal Rahman discovered that Samsung has integrated the necessary permissions for app streaming directly into the Android system. Now, when you try to mirror an app for the first time, you’ll see a single permission page asking if you want to allow this every time, just once, or not at all. If you choose “always allow,” you won’t have to go through the approval process again, making the experience more seamless. However, your device must remain unlocked for the feature to work.

This change is currently available on Samsung’s latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, which are running One UI 6.1.1. Other Galaxy devices are expected to receive this update soon, although there has been a delay in its rollout.

The update also coincides with Microsoft’s revamp of its Phone Link app, previously known as “Your Phone.” The new version offers a cleaner, more user-friendly interface, making it easier to manage your phone’s notifications and messages from your computer.

In addition to the improved mirroring, Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 is expected to bring advanced AI-powered camera features like Portrait Studio and Sketch to Image. These updates have, however, delayed the release of One UI 7 (Android 15), which many users are eagerly awaiting.

Samsung confirmed this upcoming AI feature on its community forum, but a precise release date for One UI 6.1.1 across its Galaxy lineup remains uncertain.
