Samsung Electronics chairman Lee to visit R&D center in Vietnam

A new report suggests that Lee Jae-Yong the head and current chairman of Samsung Electronics is going to visit the R&D center in Vietnam this week in order to celebrate the completion of the new research and development center.

As per the information, the ceremony is scheduled to be held on Thursday in Hanoi, with key officials of the Vietnamese government in attendance. Samsung’s chief is also said to attend the meeting with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Korean tech maker is the largest foreign investor in Vietnam that had constructed the $220 million R&D center in March 2020 and hired some 2,000 local people. The R&D center charges for mobile devices, including smartphones and tablet PCs as well as software and hardware product.

Notably, for this Vietnam arrival, Lee has canceled his attendance at the weekly trial proceedings for the Samsung C&T-Cheil Industries merger. Samsung’s largest R&D center is built on the 11,603-square-meter in Southeast Asia. The center is a 16-story building with three basement floors and the total floor area is 79,511 square meters,

Moving on, this is his second visit to Vietnam being a chief of Samsung Electronics, he is visiting Vietnam after a gap of two years. He first visited the country to inspect the center’s construction site in 2020 and he also met with Phuc, who was the then-prime minister.
