Samsung and Hanwha have recently joined hands to produce advanced AI chips, using the 4 nanometer (nm) process. Samsung Electronics Foundry has expanded its base for high-tech processes, and Hanwha has secured a growth engine for the semiconductor business.
The Korean tech maker has planned to begin mass production of Vision Next AI as early as the first half of next year. It’s worth mentioning that the 4nm is a cutting-edge process that can realize high-performance semiconductors.
Google used Samsung’s 4nm process when making smartphone processors (APs), and AI semiconductor companies Groke and Tenstorent also decided to use Samsung’s 4nm process.
A semiconductor industry official said,
- VisionNext, which mainly focuses on security camera semiconductor chips, needed to develop semiconductors with advanced performance such as Vision AI in response to market demand, and entrusted this consignment production to Samsung Foundry.
- High-performance AI semiconductor. To develop the chip, both companies have been preparing for many years, including design and process development.
