According to the report, Apple and Samsung Electronics have once again become the focus of Qualcomm technology revenue and it will remain a major source of Qualcomm with 100% of the Galaxy S and iPhone market share by 2023.
Qualcomm is the top supplier of chips for Galaxy smartphones as the upcoming Galaxy S23 also features aa processor powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon. The previous report also says that the Korean tech maker is going to ditch the Exynos chip.
By looking at the data we found that more than 40% of Qualcomm’s revenue comes from Apple and Samsung. Because in the fiscal year 2021, Qualcomm’s revenue from Apple was US$7.7 billion and in the fiscal year 2022, this figure will reach US$9.2 billion.
Last month’s financial report of Qualcomm also says that the company has planned to provide only about 20% of the 5G baseband chips for the new iPhone in 2023 to maintain the current supply level. It means Apple’s upcoming models are not expected to use a self-developed baseband design.
Further, the CFO of Qualcomm Akash Palkhiwala also confirmed that Qualcomm has moved from a 75% (chipset) share of the Galaxy S22 series to a global share. This means the Samsung Galaxy S flagship lineup is becoming the leading source of Qualcomm.
Moving on, Qualcomm desires revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2023 to reach US$9.2-10 billion. As the fiscal year, 2022 achieved revenue of 44.200 billion U.S dollars. With a year-on-year increase of 32%; net profit was 12.936 billion U.S. dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 43%.
