Samsung reportedly working on a new mixed-reality XR headset and the chip that will used in the next headset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has now announced a new Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset which will be used in a new XR device from Samsung and Google.
According to the details, the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset is now official which provides 4.3K per eye resolution with up to 90 frames per second, 15% higher GPU, and 20% higher CPU, unparalleled on-device AI, premium MR, and VR technology and boundless XR experience.
Furthermore, the on-device AI supports 12 or more concurrent cameras and dedicated XR acceleration blocks enabling outstanding interactions including hand, head, controller, facial expression, depth estimation, and 3D reconstruction.
Moving on, the next-gen mixed reality packs premium MR and VR technology into a single-chip architecture for thinner and more comfortable headsets. It also supports the latest fast mobile connectivity System to let users enjoy lag-free and shared XR experiences with ultra-fast wireless connectivity.
