New Feature Alert: Large folders in One UI 7

Top 3 Key Points:

  1. Large Folders: Samsung’s One UI 7 is set to introduce customizable large folders.
  2. Enhanced Accessibility: Apps in large folders can be opened with a single tap.
  3. Global Beta: One UI 7 Beta is expected to launch soon in several countries.

Samsung is preparing to launch a new feature called Large Folders in its One UI 7 update. This enhancement, popularized by Chinese phone makers, is now making its way to Galaxy devices.

Simplified Home Screen Management

One UI already allows users to group apps into folders on the home screen and app screen, making it easier to organize and access frequently used apps. However, Large Folders will take this a step further by allowing users to expand a folder to twice its normal size. This means that instead of just seeing app icons within a folder, users will be able to interact with these apps directly from the expanded view.

Improved User Experience

The new Large Folder feature, inspired by HarmonyOS and HyperOS, aims to streamline app access. Instead of tapping a folder and then an app icon, users can simply tap the app directly from the large folder view. This makes it quicker and more efficient to open apps.

Large Folders will display up to 8 apps in a 3×3 grid. The ninth spot will show minimized app icons, which users can tap to view more apps within the folder. This design ensures that users have quick access to their most-used apps while keeping the home screen organized.

Upcoming One UI 7 Beta

Samsung is expected to release the One UI 7 Beta soon, with a stable version likely to follow in late October. The Beta will be available in China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US. This rollout will allow users to test the new features, including Large Folders, and provide feedback before the official release.

With One UI 7, Samsung aims to enhance the user experience by making app access more intuitive and efficient. Keep an eye out for the Beta release to experience these new features firsthand.
