Samsung has been a major beneficiary of financial incentives that have helped India become the world’s second-largest phone maker. Rival Apple Inc. has also expanded production in India, with iPhone exports worth more than $1 billion this year.
But, Aggarwal did not return messages and calls seeking comment. Samsung representatives did not respond to emails seeking comment. Moreover, an engineer by training, Aggarwal was formerly head of South Asia policy at Uber Technologies Inc.
