As part of fixing blank screen issues, Google rolled out Android Auto 7.7 and 7.8 updates. According to Google, those updates have fixed the blank screen issue reported on Android Auto with Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series devices.
Most of the affected devices have been reported to have blank display issues in which the device’s display goes blank and the bottom bar doesn’t show any apps while continuing to hold the controls. A member of the Android Auto team confirmed that Google has “implemented a fix” that is present in Android Auto 7.7 and newer.
The blank screen issue has been fixed on some devices after upgrading to Android Auto version 7.7 or 7.8 as it restores compatibility between the S22 and different cars and head units. Meanwhile, some Galaxy S22 series smartphone users are still facing the same problem of Android Auto blank screen.
Looking at consumer reports, it looks like Google needs to do more work on Android Auto, so it could be fully qualified with the Galaxy S22 series of devices. Have you upgraded Android Auto to the latest version? Feel free to share the status of this issue via social media.
