Samsung has announced updates to its One UI and Quick Share applications, providing users with enhanced features and improved functionality.
One UI Update Notification
Samsung has rolled out a new notice via the Samsung Members app, informing users about the latest One UI update. This notification, released on August 1st, highlights the July 2024 security improvements for Galaxy devices. Instead of alerting users about a new update, the notice confirms the latest firmware installed on their devices. This change appears to be part of the recent update to the Members app and has been observed on devices like the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra.
The Members app itself recently received a significant update, now supporting up to Android 15. This update suggests the upcoming launch of Samsung’s One UI Beta Program. Despite frequent criticism for vague update changelogs, Samsung continues to enhance its One UI update strategy, offering up to 84 months of software support for flagship models such as the S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6. Devices released before the S24 series are promised four years of OS upgrades and five years of security patches, while recent budget phones get 60 months of updates, aligning with many Chinese flagship devices.
Quick Share App Update
Samsung’s Quick Share app has also been updated to version 13.6.51.13, introducing significant improvements. The new version, available on the Galaxy Store with a package size of 23.53MB, doubles the previous file size limit for sharing. Users can now share files up to 10GB each or per day, making it easier to send large videos and documents.
Additionally, the update enhances device identification by displaying up to two lines of text for each device’s name during file sharing, simplifying the selection process in crowded environments. A new feature also shows the total file size of incoming transfers in the pop-up notification, providing users with better information about the files they receive.
To install the Quick Share update, users can go to the Galaxy Store, select the Menu option, and then choose Updates. The update can also be downloaded from third-party app sources if preferred.
Privacy Sharing Feature
Samsung has introduced a new Privacy Sharing feature in the Quick Share app for One UI devices. This feature uses blockchain-based encryption to secure files during sharing. Whether sharing personal photos or sensitive documents, this feature ensures that only intended recipients can access the shared content.
These updates demonstrate Samsung’s commitment to enhancing user experience and security across its devices.
