The same happens with Samsung, which never stops excelling in mobile-related artificial intelligence research. While the Galaxy S24 was praised for being one of the first mass-produced devices with AI featuring Google’s Gemini Nano model, there is a rumor about a Galaxy S25 that will provide an even more significant leap in terms of artificial intelligence.
This has also been confirmed by the Android Authority, as pointed out by industry “insiders” to Korean media (Dom Herald Economy). According to him, the G Phone 5 can be expected to be released in 2025 and will probably be equipped with the next-generation Gemini Nano 2 chip. Samsung’s chief LSI officer Cho Cheol-min just revealed a similar partnership with Google in a speech, which shows that the company is thinking thoroughly about its business strategy. The two tech giants are not on talking terms as to where they stand on setting up this integration.
The range of changes that more advanced AI can make is tremendous. The Pixel 8 Pro, which already has the current Gemini Nano chip, is recognized as the huge market leader of the Pixel series as a whole. The availability of the new AI chipset not only paves the way for the Galaxy S25 to offer AI-powered features that were unavailable in its predecessors but also a way to differentiate it from its predecessors.
It’s no secret that Samsung puts a lot of effort and attention into AI development: the company’s activities go far beyond cooperation with Google. The company is doing well in countering the impact of its competitors’ artificial intelligence initiatives, doubling the capabilities of its Exynos AI team within a year. The strategic move to expose the Exynos 2500 chip to high-end AI capability is a clear indication of the Korean tech powerhouse’s desire to lead the category in performance by matching it to non-typical AI models.
That remarkable memory shared the thread with an alternative way of making iPhone users that could change the policy in Samsung’s chip strategy. Previously the Galaxy S23 series relied only on Qualcomm but the S24 reopened Exynos variants for some models. Finally, if AI becomes the main engine, Samsung could expand the use of its home-grown processors to a wider level in future Galaxy devices.
Still, there are eight months to go until the S25 Galaxy launches so the rival situation could change. Even Google may not officially announce the second version of Gemini Nano. The rapid pace of innovation suggests that a Gemini 2.0 release will be available shortly, within the next few months, possibly coinciding with the Pixel 9 announcement in October. This is just a glimpse of what Samsung is designing and it will eventually become the flagship for the 2025 model year.
Of course, Google with its deep AI knowledge, and Samsung with its overall AI sophistication will be able to equip the Galaxy S25 with the best features that will easily beat the competition. It is living proof that we never fail to rein in the development of smart features ignored by the inventors of the present world.
