In today’s era, having a Gmail account is a must and some users create several accounts but maintain only one, at a time. Therefore, those accounts will not last more, as Google is preparing to delete inactive Gmail accounts starting next month- December 2023.
According to the information, Google has been planning to delete inactive Gmail accounts for a long time, but now the time has finally arrived when your accounts could be compromised. This decision prevents the vulnerability of older accounts to cyberattacks.
Google says that if an Account has not been used or signed into for at least 2 years, then it will be deleted and this process will include content within Google Workspace, Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar, and Google Photos.
But this policy only applies to personal Google Accounts, and will not affect accounts for organizations like schools or businesses. This update aligns our policy with industry standards around retention and account deletion and also limits the amount of time Google retains your unused personal information.
However, the inactive accounts will not be deleted immediately. Google will begin removing accounts gradually, starting in December 2023. This phased approach allows users time to reactivate their accounts if they still wish to use them.
