Competition between Samsung and TSMC for 3nm expected to intensify next year

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the semiconductor market is expected to boost the 3-nano chip demand and this could lead a tough competition between Samsung Electronics and TSMC in the global foundry next year.

As per the information, Samsung Electronics’ stabilization of 4-nano yields has created an opportunity to diversify foundry partners from a fabless standpoint, but the demand for 3-nano process orders has increased significantly in the AI semiconductor field.

However, if Samsung and TSMC are to gain an edge in the competition to secure 3-nano customers, the key is how quickly they can stabilize yields.

An official from the semiconductor industry said,

  • “As AI functions become much more diverse and sophisticated in major chips around the world that will be made starting next year, the ability to produce chips in a faster and more efficient environment has become important.”
  • “All chip production systems, including foundries, are 3-nano. “Development is progressing with a focus on,”
