This next-generation chip from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is set to redefine the boundaries of mobile computing, promising an unprecedented level of performance and innovation that will shape the future of smartphones, tablets, and more.
This new SoC is released at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii and is built on a 4nm node and is designed to enhance the speed and efficiency of high-end smartphones, boasting a 30% increase in processing power and 25% better energy utilization compared to its predecessor.
The Neural Processing Unit (NPU) is now almost 98% faster and offers a 40% boost in performance-per-watt for continuous AI tasks. Qualcomm has also updated its Image Signal Processor (ISP) to work with Dolby HDR Photo Capture, improving the gaze of photos.
With its AI Engine, the chip can handle large language models for instant AI assistant responses. It further supports 24-bit 96kHz lossless music over Bluetooth, 40 frames per second on 240 Hz screens, Unreal Engine 5.2, a faster Adreno graphics processing unit (GPU), and more.
