Recently, we discussed new icons starting with Samsung’s Android 13-based One UI 5.0 beta update, while a new section called “Active apps” has been added to the quick settings. We can access the notification panel by swiping down once from the home screen, while a second down swipe expands all the quick settings.

In the header section, the user interface brings up a search tool, power button options, a settings toggle, and a three dots menu, allowing you to edit the quick settings and notification panel as per your needs. Inside the expanded menu, One UI 5.0 brings a new section called Active Apps.
Samsung described the newly added Active Apps section so that users can be aware of its functionality. The Active Apps section shows apps from users that are running in the background. And as you know, if an app is running in the background, it can affect the battery life.
To give a more clear understanding of the addition of a new section, we referenced screenshots of One UI 4.1 and One UI 5.0’s hamburger menus, followed by the functionality of the Active Apps section. When I was using the phone, the active apps menu showed a link to a windows app running in the background.

Using the newly added One UI 5.0 feature, users can check which app is running in the background and close it if not in use. This will definitely increase the battery life of the device along with providing you better performance by keeping the RAM clean.
As of now, Galaxy S22 series smartphone users can access the new One UI 5.0 features through a beta testing program in select countries. The South Korean tech giant is expected to start rolling out the official Android 13 update for Galaxy devices by mid-October.
