Text shortcuts

Text shortcuts work great on the Samsung keyboard. When you press the spacebar, the enhanced form is immediately displayed in the recommendation bar instead of the shortcut. You can add shortcuts by going to Keyboard Settings and then Text Shortcuts. When you click Add, you can enter both your shortcut phrase and its extended-phrase.

Samsung Keyboard offers predictions as another means of speed typing in addition to pre-programmed text shortcuts. Samsung Keyboard gives you an incredible nine predictions as compared to the usual three that the keyboard offers. To access them, just tap on the 3 dots on the right side of the toolbar.

Enable Gesture

Two gesture controllers are supported by Samsung Keyboard, however, you can only use one of them at a time. You can enter text by swiping your finger between letters when the “Swipe to Type” option is activated, which is the default setting.

On the other hand, “Cursor Control” enables you to move your finger on the keyboard to a precise location, but you have to select it yourself. From the Samsung keyboard settings, simply swipe up, touch, and select Feedback, then select Keyboard swipe controls.

However, it is possible to combine the best of both worlds. You can also move the cursor by long-pressing the spacebar on the keyboard when you use the Swipe to Type option for faster typing.

Quick access symbols

You can quickly access some symbols from the Samsung keyboard. Simply press and hold the period key to access ten additional prompts. Samsung makes the function even more useful, giving you the option to swap the letters with the ones you use most often. To access it, go to Samsung Keyboard Settings and look under the Style and Layout tab for the Custom Symbols option.
